Frequently Asked Questions

As with everything, there are questions that get asked very frequently. Here’s a selection that get asked about once a day, along with some of the answers. You can (and should) still e-mail us if your question isn’t on here.

Q. What is your return policy?
A. Our Terms are printed on our reciepts. 30-Day return policy on most items that are non-defective. Clearance, special order and close out items are non-returnable. There is a 20% restocking fee on all authorized non-defective returned items. All non-defective returns must be unopened and in re-sellable condition. Defective items will be exchanged for same item. An RMA# must be obtained before returning authorized merchandise.  RMA# authorized items must be returned within 14-days. Some non-defective and special order items may be unreturnable due to distributor restrictions.  You must notify us within 5-days of receipt of items if there was a problem with shipping. Shipping charges are non-refundable.

Q.
Why do you have an Anime site?
A. The
ONLY reason we run an Anime site is because we enjoy it as a hobby. Most of the time we break even on our cost of merchandise and our actual sales (sometimes we lose money), we are not trying to be a huge company. This is why if we don't have something and we know of a company that does we will give you their contact information. Our number one goal is to have fun and help other Anime fans (and avoid losing our collective shirts if possible).

Q. Do you take Visa / Mastercard ?
A. Yes to both using Pay Pal which will get your order to you the fastest

Q.
What is the fastest way to get my order?
A. When choosing your form of payment online choose
PayPal.

Q. Can I mail you a payment?
A. We only accept payments that are mailed to us in the form of a U.S. Postal Money Order and you must have contacted us by e-mail to notify us you would like to pay by mail and to confirm we have your items instock and so we can tell you your order total.
We do not accept any other form of payment by mail other than U.S. Postal Money Orders.
Any payment sent to us by mail without confirming your order with us first will be returned to you without exception.
Any payment sent to us (after confirming your order with us) that is not the proper amount or that is not complete will be returned to you without exception.

Q. I placed an order and waited but I never received a confirmation, why?
A. You did not receive a confirmation because either the e-mail address you provided was incorrect, or you placed your order on a Friday and we will not see your order until Monday morning, OR you placed an order to be shipped outside the United States. All orders placed outside the U.S. will be cancelled without exception. Sorry but we mention it several times throught the ordering process that we cannot process orders outside the United states.

Q.
When will I receive my Confirmation e-mail?
A. You will receive an automated confirmation by E-mail after you place your order
If you provide an incorrect e-mail or our e-mail to you "bounces", your order will be cancelled automatically.  Please be sure to verify your e-mail address.

Q.
If there is Free shipping on an order, where can that order be shipped?
A. Free shipping is only available in the United States and does not include Alaska or Hawaii. We can ship to Alaska and Hawaii but there will be a shipping charge.

Q.
How quick is your shipping?
A. Once your payment clears most shipments will be processed and shipped within 1-4 days if we have your item in-stock.

Q.
How did my item become a backorder?
A. Any item that is not currently in-stock may be placed on backorder status. If you do not wish to have a backordered item please put NO BACKORDER in the customer comment section if you use our order form.

Q.
What do I do if I ordered the wrong item?
A. Unfortunatly customers have ordered the wrong item. If that happens your item may be able to be exchanged at the discretion of our distributor for store credit or for the correct item. Please keep in mind no all items can be returned if you ordered the wrong item.  And there will be a 20% restocking fee on your non-defective return.

Q.
What happens if I have to ship a returned defective or non-defective item?
A. Shipping costs are non-refundable on non-defective items.  If an item is defective you will receive a refund for your shipping costs to return the item to us based on what we calculate as the shipping cost.

Q.
Why are you guys strict on returns?
A. We do this as a hobby not as a business.  Our distributors set the return policy and we try to follow it. We also lose money everytime an item gets returned because of the cost incurred from processing your payment, paying employees to pack your order and so on.

Q.
When will my order ship?
A. Your order will be shipped once your payment has cleared. At the current time, due to manufacturer's license agreements, we can only ship orders within the continental United States.

Q.
How are shipping costs determined?
A. In some instances Shipping costs are based on the costs charged to us by our distributor (shipping & handling) to deliver the product to you from their warehouses. All products are shipped within the continental United States only via UPS Ground, US Postal Service delivery or FedEx Ground.

Q. What is returnable non-defective?
A.
Because we do this as a hobby, all Anime products are non-returnable unless defective. Most Computer Items are returnable non-defective but a restocking fee will apply.

Questions customers have asked about Anime items----------------Read Below

Q.
What is the difference between PAL and NTSC?
A. The United States, Canada, Mexico, and Japan utilize the NTSC television standard. Western Europe, Australia, Great Britain, and much of the rest of the world use a different standard called PAL. In Russia and former satellite countries, they use another broadcast standard called SECAM. These three standards are not compatible with each other. All of our programming is in NTSC; if you are in a country which utilizes another standard, you will need multistandard video equipment that will allow playback of NTSC video.

Q.
What does "Adult" mean?
A. Well, everything from protracted shower scenes to the nastiest stuff.

Q.
Do I add sales tax?
A. Only if you happen to live in Ohio.

Q.
How long is a typical item "out of stock" for?
A. With a few exceptions, a week or two is a usually a safe figure. Remember, some items are directly imported from Japan, and may be in short supply even there.

Q.
Why isn't [title here] available in the US?
A. You might be surprised to find out how much of the Japanese product is available in the US. Of the few titles that remain unlicensed, some have their rights disputed, some licensers want more money than a title can possibly generate in this market, and some are currently in negotiation. With the exception of television series (which are a different matter entirely), this just about covers it.

Q.
What's the difference between an Import and a Domestic CD / Will this CD play in my machine?
A. Import CD's come directly from Japan, and have their insert cards printed in Japanese. They will play in any standard CD player. On the downside, they are significantly more expensive than the titles in your local music store. They also tend to go out of print quickly (in most cases) and do so without ANY prior warning. Domestic CD's have been licensed for distribution in the US, and are available at a lower price. In some rare cases, however, they do NOT include all the tracks that are on their Import cousins (for example, the domestic Memories CD does not include the tracks that were on the CD-Single included in the Japanese release). Understand, though, that if a Japanese pressing of a particular CD has a song with Japanese lyrics, the US pressing of that same CD will ALSO be sung in Japanese.

Q.
What's the difference between subtitled and dubbed?
A. Subtitled tapes display the dialogue on the bottom of the screen while the actual voices are still in Japanese. "Dubbed" in this case means the music (probably) is intact, but the voices have been redone in English.

Q.
Do you ship COD?
A. No. Few companies do it any more, in fact, because of the possibility of fraud. Sorry.

Q.
Is "I didn't like this tape or DVD" a good enough reason for me to return it?
A. Sorry, no.

Q.
I ordered something from your website or on the phone and you said it was discontinued / why did you list it as being available for sale?
A. There have been some cases where something was released and then sold out. Also, some products are in short supply...this is particularly true of comics and artbooks and alot of special items in the Previews catalog. Many times we must count on the manufacturer and our distributor to keep us informed when a product goes out of print or will no longer be produced, and sometimes we don't get this information until after we call them to follow up on our order to them for the product. We do our very best to get the product that you ordered to you as quickly as possible. If your product has been discontinued, we will work with you to select a different one or return your payment to you.

Q.
Why did all of those T-shirts get discontinued?
A. The manufacturers of different T-shirts tend to produce a few and then offer them to our distributor who in turn offers them to us and then we find out after waiting a month that the manufacturer did not make enough and discontinued production.

Q.
When I got my DVD of (insert title here), it was bad. What do I do?
A. E-mail us for a return material authorization (RMA) number. We'll give you the complete directions when you call. The manufacturers say that this happens about 1 time per 100 DVD's

Q.
Someone on the Internet said that <place title here> was going to be released real soon now, so why don't you guys have it?
A. Check out rec.arts.anime.info (or you see it on our website) and see if it is listed if not then it may be a rumor.

Q.
I chose Priority Mail and my product still took 2 weeks to arrive. What's up with that?
A. You must have ordered a product which we didn't have stock on at the time that we received your order. If an item is out of stock when we receive your order, we still ship it out by Priority Mail when we receive it from the manufacturer. Although we do try to keep stock on the items in our catalog, there are times when there may be delays getting items from the manufacturer. We will let you know by e-mail if an item is out of stock so you can decide if you would still like to wait for your item or cancel the order.

Q.
If I move, should I inform you?
A. Only if you want to keep getting info from us. Just drop us a quick note, giving us your old address, and your new address, so that we can update our records. This also includes changing e-mail addresses.

Q.
I went to your on-line ordering system and I wanted to order, but I didn't have a credit card? What do I do?
A. You can also use the on-line ordering system to place an order by selecting the items that you want, and then choosing "Send me an invoice by e-mail". This way, you can use the on-line system to order using a money order and follow the directions in the e-mail. But one of the easiest is selecting Pay Pal as your form of payment.

Q.
Why does it take so long for you guys to make a catalog / why doesn't the catalog come out more frequently?
A. We update our website monthly, for those of you who have Internet access as well, or you might consider joining our e-mail list, which has a periodic newsletter of new programming. Finally, you should know that the catalog production staff is exactly ONE person (and that’s me), and this catalog is not the only thing that I do. Or you can check out a Previews catalog from our site which includes most items comic shops carry.
